Lake Guntersville Splash In attendees:

Thank you for the overwhelming support we have received from so many of you since the tornado outbreak. We are super excited to announce the new dates for the 2011 Lake Guntersville Splash In are September 2-5. We are going to be able to extend the festivities an extra day and combine our bombing competition with the Annual St. Williams Seafood Festival on September the 3rd. Our community is beginning to look like itself again (minus a few hundred trees) and our volunteers are getting excited about the upcoming event. We look forward to seeing you all this fall.

is the scenic backdrop for one of the years most exciting Splash Ins. Come enjoy the 69,000 acre reservoir we live on and play on all year round.

In 2010, the Guntersville Municipal airport and the City of Guntersville partnered with the Seaplane Pilots Association and Jack Brown’s Seaplane Base in Winter Haven, Fl to bring you the Tennessee Valley’s premier Fly In event. Whether you are a pilot or just a an admirer of aviation, the weekend of September 2-5 will be sure to thrill you to the core. The Guntersville Municipal Airport is pleased to play host to seaplane pilots from all over the country and exhibitors that serve both general aviation and the general public with their services and products. This year we are also pleased to share this weekend with The Annual St. Williams Seafood Festival.

The afternoon of September 3, we will be holding our bombing competition along the waterfront of Sunset Dr. in Guntersville, with the help of the Marine Police, Guntersville Rescue Squad, and our local Fire and Police Dept. Experienced military pilots, and recreational pilots will treat spectators to a show of skill, by attempting to drop sacks of cracked corn onto two targets placed 100’ apart in the lake. We will also be holding a raffle for free airplane rides to a few lucky people who attend the event. The city will be providing transportation from the airport to the viewing area at Sunset Dr. and back again.

Throughout the day on September 4, pilots will have an opportunity to take self guided sightseeing tours of the area and enjoy splashing down in a number of beautiful setting all over the Tennessee Valley. We can’t wait to see you there!
